Final Five Art works. Digital Form

This is a photo of my only canvas work. 'Drugs'

This series of two images are called 'intoxication'

This image is range is called 'Regret'.

these three images above are a series, however they work as one artwork. 'Self depletion'

'Decisions'

week Eleven

In today's session I had edited photos that I had taken in my room. To create lighting I used a lamp and the flash to create different looks. The final images look really good with a black and white filter over the top.
The images below are some of the attempts for my finals.

All my photos were edited in photo shop.

These images are all of myself. the image on the top right is taken in a photo frame that i have influenced by the image of a girl standing on the beach in a frame. I took many images of myself in a frame and i used the light of the curtain to imitate a 'trapped' 'jail' look.

week Ten

Video art:
Today's session is based on contemporary video art.
Tony Oursler - video artist. He projects many images onto buildings, smoke and objects.
they eye projection portrays a creepy sense of someone watching you. His faces talk directly to the audience, as it's layered onto 3D objects it makes the audience feel like they are actually talking to someone.
hidden projection
Matthew Barton- A series of 5 video works, film out of order. They were film from the 90's to a couple of years ago. I find these videos very strange and hard to understand, if you didn't read the concept/message behind each video. The cremaster cycle.

Jenna gave a mini lesson to a few of us on how to create a video using movie cut pro. This programs allows you to manipulate the video/s in many ways. Although this is the first time I have used the program I hope that I will be able to get a good video out by the due date.
This week I will be focusing on taking short clips then using cut pro to put the all together with sound effects.

Influences

I have found images that i find interesting and may influence my finals!

Week Nine

Presentations commenced.

Creating videos!
As I was away last week I need to catch up on how to use the video making program correctly. i was thinking of creating a video as my final piece however i will see how this class goes and see how well i can use the program before i make it 100 percent.

Peter Callas - Australian video artist from the 60's and he is still making work today. He talks a lot about cultural identity. Especially in the areas he has lived e watched a video he created and in the video he is trying to expose the hidden meanings in Japanese games and how young children and hooked on them at a very young age. We also watched a small clip made in 1988 where he is focusing on the history of white man coming to Australia.
VAIL EXPORT- this is another video artists discussed today.

Gary Hill - American born artist, he brands text into his video art. We watched a small clip of the incidence of the catastrophe 1987 -1988. this clip is very dark and shows water flowing over a sand bank. Text appears however its hard to read due to its close up shot. The word water continues to show.

The images on my blog are just interesting images i found. the photo frame one really
gave me a good idea for my regret theme.

week Eight

I was away sick this week. I worked on my finals at home.

Week Seven Blog

Today's session was based on using corel painter x again, however this time we used the clone tool and discovered how to create an animation. I found the animation tool very useful and I had managed to create three moving pictures. Now that i have discovered this tool i am now thinking that want to include it into my artworks. I am thinking that my regret and drunk images will incorporate the animation. With the animation I will be using text based flashes. At the moment I will play around with the tool and see what looks best in terms of effect and colours to suit the image.
presentations today were great, I really enjoyed the framed images that were influenced by Andy Wahol. Oliva's work will look great and I'm looking forward to watching her cloud video.
overall the classes ideas and concepts of how the perceived things and what their meaning is beahind their work is really interesting.

- video didnt work, took to long to load, i will try put it up next week!
This is one of the animations I made. I really like it and it didn't take very long.

Week Six Blog

Week 6
In today's session we discovered how to use corel painter x. This program is great as it has a huge variety of tools and art techniques you can use to create a desired look. The lighting tool works really well, in the image i had added three lights to the top of the image. Using the pen to draw is alot easier when your drawing on the paper, however when you use the pen to try and click on a tool i found it difficult. I think i will be using the pen with the mouse so I don't take as long when trying to select a tool. Another technique that i found interesting in corel painter x was the water colour brush, it really portrays the actual visual look of water colour, all the way down to the splatter effect you can get by accident. The images that i have posted were just a quick practice, learning how to use the tools and find out different effects. The green leaves are from a photo i took at the beach testing out the macro function on my camera. I have simply added a lighting tool over the top and created the look of the center leave having sunshine on the top of it.

week 5
Today our art proposals are due.
The topic today is collage, i had found this image on Jenna's Blog. I really like this image and they way the tiny pieces make up a large clear image. if you look as a larger size of this image the bushes aren't matched up at all, however when you look far away it seems to all join up and looks just like salt tolerant plants are present.
I have been trying to upload a collage image I had made during class, however the image icon wont work anymore. I will try another day and hopefully it will load up.
Inspiration for my final works will come from Sarah Barker and her 'The birthday party" range.

When I create my "regret" artwork i will be taking into account the way this photo is taken. I love the reflection in the mirror and the way she is portrayed in the image. I also like how the viewers eyes are drawn to the whole image rather than just a center feature.

week four blog

Week 4
In today's lesson we learnt how to use our digital camera to get a certain look. I have discovered what the marco tool does on my camera and i also found many functions that i didn't know existed on my camera. I have found the marco tool very effective when taking up close images with the background blurry. I think my camera works really well in this mode and i will be using it for my final portfolio.
We had been introduced to the film room which was great, it has lost of equipment we can access and i am thinking of using it when i make my film for the final portfolio.
I will try to put up some photo's however I left my camera cable at home this lesson, therefore ill try to get them up next week.
Just added the photo I took of my perfume bottle, I was using the super marco function on the camera. You can see that the silver part has been in focus and the background has been blurred. I believe this effect looks great.

week 3
Mobile phone art!
today I had discovered that a mobile phone can be used in a variety of ways to create digital art. From blue tooth to a ring tone symphony, mobiles can be a very useful tool in creating art.
However as my mobile phone will only send music files to the computer, I may have to discover a new way to transfer it if i want to used mobile art as one of my themes.
My "all versions of going out" theme has really fallen in place this lesson. I have thought about what i want to do individually with each "version" such as a fun scene, drunk scene, drug scene and then a video at the end summing up all the points. I am excited about this class and hopefully my vision works out!

week two blog

Week two
This week we are focusing on text and the various ways it can be used it images and artworks. I have created a small brainstorm with the topic of club/party scene in my mind. I have found that this has enabled me to explore my topic in more depth and I tend to be thinking about it on a larger scale.
Now that i have more ideas and
concepts for my digital art work i can scrap the ones that I'm unsure about and have back up ideas for future.
below is a website that has an image totally constructed by text. I found this very detailed, yet if you look at the image from far away you wouldn't notice that it was made from text at all!

Week One Blog

Week One
Jenna,
What I am expecting to get out of this class is a general understanding of digital art and the many forms it can displayed in. I'm also very interested in the video genre and learning how to use programs to get a desired look or message across.
An image i found on www.rhizome.com really captured my eye. I tend to like images that are similar with color shapes and collage like effects.
The link is http://rhizome.org/art/?tag=abstract.

I had trouble getting the picture on this blog. The image is three pictures down and the artist is Aaron Siegal.

A second image that got my attention was the animated flashing squares of color and shape. this is a moving art work that looks like lights flashing which could be added to an advertisement. Link http://www.hansup.be/deus-digitalis/. The artists name is Hans Vergaegen.
This semesters theme I am focusing on is Party/Club scene.
